There are several best practices that “everybody knows” when it comes to digital marketing and fundraising. Many of them are simple and don’t require complicated setup or configuration. Great, right?
Yes, in theory. But many times in the course of our work, we’ve been surprised to learn that many nonprofits don’t have those best practices in place.
Here are some examples:
- Asking donors to consider a recurring gift after a one-time donation
- Filtering your email list to exclude non-openers and non-clickers
- Landing action alert takers on a donation page once the action is complete
So if everybody knows this, why isn’t everybody doing them? It’s not because they don’t know what the best practices are. Examples like the above are not rocket science. Here are some reasons:
- Not sure how to get started with content and configuration
- Complicated to explain to decision makers who aren’t in it day to day
- Too much time doing the actual work to also manage change
That’s where Raise HECK can help. Our status as external, objective experts can help clear those logjams and bolster your explanations for why things are a good idea.
We’ve already done this in 2025: we made a simple recommendation to a client that helped to more than double their website donations.
If you are one of the “everybody” who knows these basic best practices but doesn’t yet have them in place, then we hope this nudge can help you get started with implementing them. And if you want some help, we’re here for that! Contact us at hello@raiseheck.com
