I'm Sick Of Waking Up To News About Gun Violence In This Country

In a sign that America is indeed getting back to normal, we had two mass shooting incidents in the span of a week. An assault weapon was used to kill 10 people in Boulder and in Georgia, the shooter bought a gun and used it the same day to murder 8 people. Equal Access to Sports for Transgender Young People

One of President Biden’s Day One executive orders was titled “Preventing and Combating Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity or Sexual Orientation.” Among the many things this order does is to guarantee equal access to young people to participate in the sport or team of their gender identity, and prevents them being denied access to locker rooms, restrooms and school sports. For people who want to play, participating in sports is a benefit to self-esteem and self-confidence. For transgender young people, the type of benefit that comes from being welcomed to play sports in a way that affirms their gender is especially important. Read more »

Defend our Democracy

On January 6, 2021 there was an attempted coup at the U.S. Capitol. On January 13, 2021 the House of Representatives impeached the now-former President for inciting the insurrection. On February 13, 2021 a majority of the Senate voted 57-43 to convict the disgraced former President, although the vote fell short of the needed 2/3 majority. Read more »
